Exhibition MARCUS van der GRINTEN "peinture et dessin"
Extracts of the exhibition
Marcus van der GRINTEN
Painting: tension it imposes…Attention on painting, it imposes. Small manual of philosophy to the use of those who pretend not to be at it; and do painting like (Moliere’s infamous character) M. Jourdan made prose. Without knowing it. If the painting of Marcus van der Grinten lacks all innocence, the fault, but is it a fault, is incumbent on path’s that cross and reach nowhere…
From pothole to hump’s, from a jam of words to a ruin of ideas, the Artist – a word he denies – sees his honest man’s thriftiness run out, ‘til one day the world will turn its’ back on him. What a chance for an Artist – a word he detests – alone against all, at last! The bubonic plague of ideas could well declare itself, the End of the World postponed due to his moral obligation, the worm in the fruit, the bone of contention caresses the lining in a rattling noise. The Artist – a word he cannot stand – wrings the neck of the serpent in the Garden of Eden. On the highest branch of the apple tree, a naked woman licks an ice cream.
