RENDEZ-VOUS ! “…to bring or come together….”“…..to present yourselves….”
Our encounters and experience with Art are private; though often in shared company. They are a meeting between the viewer and a work of Art; through the language of the artist and translated by the participant in a specific moment of time.I called this exhibition ‘Rendez-vous’ because it is the first opening exhibition at Galerie Grand rue 9; and I wished to invite everyone to participate, to meet with my Artwork and each other…

My hope is that this Galerie will continue to become a meeting point with Art, with creativity, with each other, with Nature; and be a source for inspiration individually and in community.
The work represented here is illustrative of various media and scale; aquarelle, oil painting, monotype printmaking and site installations. The choice of media and scale selected for appropriate means of creative expression is the beginning of the work itself. I greatly enjoy shifts in scale; working on very small pieces one observes and participates in a very different way than with a very large piece of work
My work is inspired by the patterns, rhythms, colors and energy in the natural environment.
The Aquarelles are created on ‘Ballad’ out exploring the forest, mountains or fields.
They are fleeting glimpses of ‘color notes’ suspended in a brief emotion or experience; and are often then used as the starting point for larger abstract interpretations in oil painting or monotype prints. I have been working with Aquarelle all my life. It is very transportable medium, liberating and quick to use.
The spontaneity of creation in the Monotype printing process; and the archeological layering of several colors to create new dimensions appealed to me. I began printmaking in 2006 and became very inspired by the individual singularity of the Monotype and the rhythm of the physical process of working with the color and the press.
The oil paintings are created in the atelier, and are abstracted interpretations. I am passionate about the sensuality of the oil material; and the colors that can be reworked again and again offer a very different creative process in time than either the Aquarelles or the printmaking.
The site installations explore a moment of impulse to join harmonically into the cycle of what is found in in the natural world. I build on what is discovered and translated; and enjoy the dialogue between placing order into the subtle chaos of the rhythms, patterns and colors of nature. Taking photos of the installations emphasizes the temporality of that basic instinctive and present moment when it is created.
